BQNA’s 2026 Annual General Meeting featured an evidence based/knowledge sharing panel providing facts and answering questions about the impact of a jet airport on our air and water quality and the value of protecting our access to nature and parkland. The three speaker presentations are available below with a few featured slides.

Dr. Marianne Hatzopoulou

Marianne is a Tier 1 Canada Transportation Research Chair and Co-lead BQN Air Quality Study, University of Toronto. She presented findings of a three year intensive NSERC funded Air Quality collection study of our community in partnership with the BQNA, the City of Toronto Planning and Public Health departments and Billy Bishop Airport.

Dr. Samantha Green

Samantha is the Board President of Canadian Association of Physicians for the Environment (CAPE), Family Physician at St. Michael's Hospital and Assistant Professor in the Dept. of Family and Community Medicine at the University of Toronto. Samantha spoke on ways she advocates for climate action to improve the health of her patients and their community and the important link between positive health outcomes and people's connection to nature.

Ron Jenkins

Ron is the Western Waterfront Director, Waterfront for All and Lifetime Member, National Yacht Club. Ron had a visual presentation showing the infrastructure needed to support jet aircraft and the effect it could have on marine navigation, water quality, and water flow into the harbour and lake.
