The City of Toronto has made the decision not to renew the lease at the 545 Lake Shore site, and the shelter services will be responsibly and compassionately wound down by September 2026.

2025 year in review – the Bathurst Quay Neighbourhood. Issues such as encampment prevention, Air Quality, the fire at Windward Co-op, launching a National Petition to regulate ultrafine particles and Runway End Safety Areas at the Toronto Island Airport.

Our community is a unique mix of cooperatives, social housing and condos with wonderful local amenities. The history of how this all came about provides good lessons for the future of housing policy and community building.

The encampment underneath the grotto has been fully removed, and the grotto itself is now officially closed, thanks in large part to the steadfast stream of emails and phone calls from the community and the fast action by our Parks department.
